Well my much loved foster puppy Casey has been adopted by a wonderful young couple and he is moving onto a wonderful new life. I am missing him so very much, his bouncy in-your-face love me attitude, his obedience and willingness to do all that is asked. My heart is aching but I know he is with the right family. I thought that fostering was a wonderful idea but I think that the painful feelings may not be worth it. Having said that I am certain that he is better for having shared our home and we are better for knowing him. I will await my next foster puppy and love him or her just as much. Looking for that next TG bus to deliver our next bundle of love.

What a wonderful young puppy
Well, we have passed the one week mark with Casey and he is still wonderful and so very smart. He knows how to sit on command, he will wait for his food, he walks nicely on a leash and plays well with other dogs. What is not to love about such a great little dog. He is a wee bit of an escape artist, he went through the hedge twice so we now have a new "pet proof" fence lining our 50+year old hedge that no other dog has gone through before. He is very clever though he stayed near the house and was quickly brought back into the house and no further backyard privileges until the fencing was up and observed to be Casey proof. He is even getting our ~9 year old Turtlegardens dog Poppy playing with him, he is irresistible when he asks so nicely. Well although we love him I hope there is soon a wonderful new family for him because it is going to be very hard to let him go.

First day done and great dog
Well Casey has been with us for 24 hours and what a fun delightful, gentle, playful, & all-around a perfect little dog. He is just the right size to pick up and cuddle. He loves to play with toys for hours at a time, willingly playing with the human but just as content to play alone. Poppy is not so sure about having a new dog in the house, she has been an only dog for 8 years but she has not told him off just not joined in the fun. He fell asleep surrounded by toys, almost lost him for a short time he was curled up and the toys almost hid him. He is great walking on leash, friendly with everyone and willing to curl up and nap when needed. Well off for another walk. I will post again hopefully with pictures next time, haven't quite figured that one out.

Today Casey arrives
Here are a few photos of Casey shared by his present Foster Mom Vick. I was up at 4 anticipating the arrival of the TG Bus. I didn't know I would be so excited to start this new experience. We will wait for the email to tell us to head to the barn and go from there...here we go.

The wait begins
This is the start of a great new adventure fostering dogs for Turtle Gardens Animal Rescue. It all started with a search on www.petfinder.com 8 years ago looking for a dog to join our family and I stumbled upon a pitiful looking small blonde dog looking for a home. Poppy came into our lives after a screening by Yvette and a volunteer came to approve our home with a home visit, she joined our family and brought us lots of new adventures, learning and love. This Sunday after a long wait we will be trying our hand at fostering a dog, this is a very necessary job as it frees up a space for another dog needing rescue. Sunday we will welcome Casey, I don't know much about him but I am looking forward to meeting him and helping him along his journey to his new family. Well off to walk Poppy in the sunshine while we can before the liquid version shows up again.
Let the adventure begin, I can't wait to meet Casey.
